Our Primary Care Mental Health Practitioners (PCMHPs) are qualified mental health professionals who work with adults aged 18 and over. They have background qualifications in nursing, occupational therapy and social work.
A meeting with a PCMHP is often an excellent starting point to understand better what difficulties you might be having. Practitioners are able to offer a flexible therapeutic approach that can meet the person at their place of need, drawing from a range of therapeutic models at any one time.
Practitioners can also offer short term support to help people to cope at difficult times, prepare people for treatment, or support people to access appropriate services for them. Sometimes if you have been assessed in another part of the service, but need faster, more immediate support, we might recommend you see a Practitioner for a short period of time.
