Primary Care Mental Health Practitioners

What we offer

Our Primary Care Mental Health Practitioners (PCMHPs) are qualified mental health professionals who work with adults aged 18 and over. They have qualifications in nursing, occupational therapy and social work.

If your referral is directed to the Practitioner team, we will invite you call in to arrange a brief phone appointment with one of our clinicians. We do this to discuss the difficulties you are experiencing, and ensure we are getting you to the right service. We try to do this as early as possible after your referral has been received.

Support from a PCMHP is often an excellent starting point to accessing a range of mental health services. Our Practitioner team offers short term support to help people to cope at difficult times, to help people prepare for therapy (including within our IAPT services), and to support people to access appropriate services for them. Sometimes, if you have been assessed in another part of the service, but you need more practical solution-focused support, we might recommend you see a Practitioner for a short period of time.

"I feel like I was listened to at all times, with no judgement. The advice I received was very helpful and thought provoking."
